Pump JackIn March of 1912, the discovery of oil on the Wheeler farm in Creek County, Oklahoma, started the greatest oil field in the world at that time.  Thousands rushed into barren hill country and founded a dozen oil field towns.  Drumright was the heart of the oil field and has survived for more than 87 years.

To experience how life was during the glorious "boomdays" a visit to the Drumright Historical Museum is a must.  More than 50,000 people have visited the museum.  Hours are Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., with Victorian Carriage Rides available.

Another of Drumright's brightest stars is Boomtown Theatre - Home of the Drumright Community Players since 1971.  Boomtown Theatre is a highlight to tour groups and season ticket holders alike.  Most performances are presented to "sold-out" audiences.  Everyone involved with the theatre - players, directors, stagehands, musicians, lobby crew members, box office workers, etc.... are all non-paid hard-working volunteers! Tickets and information are available at Cook's Flowers in Drumright, phone 918.352.2226.

Drumright has nine locations on the National register of Historical Places; the home of Aaron Drumright (Babe Ruth ate fried chicken here): English Gothic First United Methodist Church; longest uphill-downhill Main Street in Oklahoma; a row of shotgun houses; St. Mary's Catholic Church Mural; a totem pole collection; Whitlock Park - swimming pool, & picnic shelters; World famous Tiger Hill; a 54 foot mural of "Crow Bridge" (it follows you as you walk) and Way Park which comes alive with memories of long ago performances on the open stage.

Drumright Senior Citizens Center, a modern nursing home facility, a golf course, an annual 5K Run and a variety of top-notch restaurants call Drumright home.

Drumright has one motel, a weekly newspaper, a local radio station and a public library.  There is a full-time police and Fire Department.  Area Civic organizations include Lions Club, Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
