Boomtown Theater
Home of the Drumright Community Players
Upcoming Shows
In 1971, a group of Drumright Citizens
organized a benefit production to purchase a piano for the Community Center. They chose an
old-time melodrama, Curse You, Jack Dalton followed by an olio, presented
on February 23rd in the high school auditorium. The fledgling actors raised over $800,
purchased the piano and proceeded to produce another play. Thus the Drumright Community
Players were born. |
"Never Too
Late"

A melodrama and olio has been presented
each year since the first "Oil Patch Jamboree" in 1972. The Players are proud
that Drumright is the smallest town in Oklahoma with a continuing community theater. Before finding a permanent home, the Community Players performed in a variety
of places, from the high school auditorium to any available empty building downtown. In
1992, they purchased the 1914 historical building that has become Boomtown Theater. With
donations from individuals and groups, the theater has gradually undergone renovations -
including improved seating, restrooms, carpeting and ceiling fans. As funds become
available other improvements will be made. |

Everyone involved with the theatre -
players, directors, stagehands, musicians, lobby crew members, box office workers,
etc....are all non-paid hard working volunteers! |

The popular Musical Salute to WWII has
been an annual production since 1994. |

| The Boomtown Theater is a highlight for
tour groups who are coming to Drumright in increasing numbers. The
community of Drumright loves to see bus loads of our theater friends
roll into town for dinner and a show. Since the first donation in 1971, the
Drumright Community Players has through the years made contributions to various worthwhile
causes - Drumright Soccer Association, Drumright Fire Department,
Drumright High School Auditorium Renovation and "Say No To Drugs." The Players are proud to be a
part of this unique Oklahoma town - Drumright! |

"If you have had the
opportunity to see one of their productions, you will walk away knowing that good theater
cannot be confined to Broadway." "The
Players approach a play with an almost professional dedication, in their determination to
bring the best possible live theater to the community." |
| " Looking forward to being with you
with our bus load of ardent fans, ready for another of your delightful productions."
"After seeing "Nunsense", several
people in our group commented they thought your production was more enjoyable the Broadway
version."
"Boomtown Theater gives the most remarkable,
professional musicals and dramas. It is small, intimate and patron involved... a family
atmosphere that is seldom found in the new era of entertainment." |
